We live in a world in which technology is an increasingly huge part of our everyday lives, and both children and adults are connected and hooked. Technology is all around us, constantly, so disconnecting from it once in a while can be extremely welcome. Summer camps are a good way for children to disconnect and enjoy sports and physical activities that are on the programme.
Summer camps have different kinds of activities, designed such that kids can have fun over the summer, share experiences with children of the same age, and enjoy themselves without any need for technology.
Some children do ask if they can bring their games consoles, Nintendos or other devices. The answer to that is NO! The point of going to camp is to have fun, play and interact with other kids. To take part in the activities and games that the camp runs. There will be no time to use your devices, so it’s best to leave them at home. They’ll only be taking up space in your suitcase!
Children play videogames enough as it is throughout the year. Summer represents a good chance to have a break from their Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox or any other device they might have, and enjoy the games and activities, making friends with kids from all over the world in this beautiful natural environment.
We all need to escape and get close to nature once in a while.
This VIDEO is a great representation of how modern technology is shaping our social relationships. It reflects how we can neglect the people around us in favour of our mobile screens, and everything we miss out on as a result. Life should not be reduced to a screen, but it is often parents who are the first to make this mistake.
Whilst technology has its uses and should never be completely disregarded, kids need to be taught how to use it properly: what times to use it and when is best to have a break. This is why children going to summer camp should go there to have fun and should leave their technology at home.
All they need to bring is a mobile phone to contact their parents. But to ensure that the camp and the activities are run properly, the camp leaders tend to keep them with them and return them during scheduled contact hours. You can check the camp’s contact policy on the camp pages. Most of the camp leaders have informed us what is the best way of communicating during camp.
If you ask them about videogames, they will tell you to leave them at home as you won’t need them with you. They have organised their programmes for kids to have fun, and besides, they won’t have time to use them anyway, so it’s best not to bring them.
